Given the intense memory used when playing TA directly on TA.com because of Ustream's chat, I thought it would be helpful if I wrote up a tutorial of how I generally watch TA and use less memory. It is rather simple once you've got the hang of it. (You won't ever lose the TA website since you have to revisit it each time to click record.)
First, install Jaksta.
1 - Head on over to http://jaksta.com and click "download trial." (How you remove that trial is up to you.)

2 - You'll be redirected, so once again hit 'download.'

3 - After being redirected one final time, this is the last 'download' you will have to click:

4 - Install Jaksta as you normally would any program:

-------
Install VLC: (You will need this to run the live stream.)
-----
Open up ToonamiAftermath.com and now, hit 'Start' (Make sure TA is loaded and playing before you hit start.)

---
Navigate to: C:\Users\(Computer User)\Documents\My Streaming Media
---
Click the stream that's recording, and close TA.com--you're all set.

Couple of notes:
- Until you either buy it or get yourself a license, there is a limited amount of time you can record.
- Make sure to close TA.com after you've got it recording, otherwise it is not exactly going to reduce lag.
- C:\Users\Computer User\Documents\My Streaming Media -- Replace computer user with your username.
Huh, so toon allowed this thread huh? (or forgot about it)
Well, if he does end up allowing this, its always welcome to have helpful support threads like this. Good job .vash![]()
Thank you--both of you--for the feedback. ![]()
Where has this thread bin all my life?
Hey guys, I just tried this, and it seemed to be working ok, but when I clicked and played the recording stream and it opened up in VLC, it was pretty small, and there was gray all around it before it went to black like usual low-rez movies or whatever. Is there any way around that?
Thanks
If Toon uses this software, I am sure he will be grateful for this suggestion for this site and uses memory more efficiently.

Thank you for sharing this alternative. I generally try to deal with the least amount of downloading/installing programs as possible, so I usually just stream directly from the Justin.TV channel if I don't feel like dealing with flash eventually crashing from the chat. Then again, the chat is what makes the site fun for me, so I've only done that once or twice. However, there are far more lurkers than there are chatters, so I'm sure they'll appreciate this idea; I'm curious to see which is more efficient memory-wise. Very nice post!
