Punk is a very underrated genre but what a lot of people dont know is that if punk had never happened most good post 80s music would never have happened.

You are being hilariously close-minded. But please keep on name-calling and hating on anyone who has a different opinion than you. It makes for great, ironic entertainment. 
I'm into lots of music including most of the bands you've posted and agree that it opened lots of doors to a good deal of today's music but I don't limit myself to any specific genre. If you do that you will miss out on lots of good music.
And not for nothing but if you were really against conformity, you wouldn't expect everyone to listen to hardcore just because you said so. In fact I found what you said about conformity a tad hypocritical. It's more of an individualist stance to just listen to what you prefer regardless of outside opinion.
punk is definitely not the only music im into into a bit of everything and im glad not everyone listens to punk that just turns into greenday and that whole emo thing that happened
