Jumping the shark is an idiom used to denote the point in a television program's history where the plot spins off into absurd storylines or unlikely characterizations. These changes were often the result of efforts to revive interest in a show whose audience had begun to decline.- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark

So many times in history this has happened to a lot of our favorite shows so i pose this question; when did your favorite show or manga jump the shark and started to decline? When did you throw your hands up and say "that's it!! I'm done!"

Yu Yu Hakisho showed me it in the manga when <REDACTED> found out his dad was a demon or some crap like that.

I am willing to debate that DBZ jumped the shark after the cell saga.

I thought you said "unlikely". Tongue Also, in future, do try to avoid spoilers. We do play Yu Yu Hakusho on the stream after all.

Of course DBZ jumped shark after the cell Saga. You can at least reference the freiza saga and cell saga back to dragonball, but the Buu saga is a completely new story arc thought up by a man who was paid a lot of money to create. That doesn't mean i don't like the Buu saga, i'm just saying that it didn't really need to happen, in order to rap up the series.

DBZ did jump ship after the Cell Saga. It should have just ended. I'm guilty of watching the Buu saga to the very end, but it was garbage. Although the concept of "filler" isn't new to DBZ, at least eh filler in the Freiza saga, for example, was relevant. Captain Ginyu switching bodies with Bulma, etc was at least relevant. As opposed to the part of the Buu saga where Vegeta and Goku were talking with Buu's feces while inside of his bowels.

i thought they writers used fusion as a way to add characters with out having to be original/ deal with power levels.

I liked the fusion aspect of the Buu saga. How is fusing 2 characters into 1 new character not original? You have to remember the Dbz manga was out in the 80's, so fusion was super original back then.
