Nope, never got that.

And my God, it's been so long since I last played my PS2.  I had completely forgotten the sound it makes when you turn it on.  Somehow got nostalgia'd.

I still play my PS2 from time to time so it's more like I know about it.

I remember this. It did this sometimes when the disc was dirty or scratched.

I bought Need for Speed Underground 2 out of the country, roughly $3 USD, brought it home and got that screen.

It was worth it.

I seldom got the red screen, if my PS2 couldn't read the format it would just stay on the browser/system config. screen until i reset it.

Supposedly the lense was cheap as hell...

Certain games would play...while others wouldn't.

Like...the blue disc, black disc, and silver disc games all required the lense to be at a certain height or what not....if it was too high only one typ e of disc would play....had to be jusssst right for all of them to play.

Or something...

Had this happen to quite a few of my ps2s....threw away one or two before I realized I could fix it myself.
