HOLY SHIT!! I need to get to the Philippines (-__-)
If only Toonami kept playing in New York. Damn. :'(
There's a reason it's only airing in the Philippines.
I guess i would like too know why quality Anime and something calling it self toonami is showing there, i mean its still better then the new cn we have the shit they show on cn is soooo boring why why what did i do to deserve this.
I may be able to shed some light on why other countries get good anime, including awesome regional dubs, and programming like Toonami over the U.S. and other english speaking countries. Our society looks at cartoon's as child programming and not really suitable for adult's and mature audiences. Our society fails to grasp that in Japan and Korea where most anime and manga comes from the pantheon's for both medium spread to all ages, not just children. I am 28 and still watch cartoon's, anime, play with toy's, build models, etc... all while owning a business, running a non-profit, and planning event's and convention's all year long. Until our society takes off its blinders and acknowledges that adults like cartoon's also and that they don't need to cater to children (although the term is stretching it thin since most cartoon's we create and air here in the U.S. suck and I would not let my children watch them ever) but can make cartoon's like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun and still capture a wide audience.
I don't know. There are animated shows directed towards adults here. Most notably are Family Guy, American Dad, Boondocks, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Futurama (my personal favorite), and the Simpsons. Though, I do think most of those are just making fun of cartoons. I think the problem is that the bigger companies to realize how popular anime really is to people ages 15 and up. Back in the 90s and early 2000s, anime was pretty big. Adult Swim aired it more than just once a week, and in fact, that was most of their programming block when they first started. They have since been taken over by most of the shows I mentioned above. That's kind of sad, because those shows aren't really that good. The humor just isn't the same. I find FLCL very funny, but I can't stand to watch shows like South Park or Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I guess it's because they feel American made shows are better than others, which is not true. I definitely prefer my anime over Futurama any day.
And I prefer my futurama to your anime. Good day madam.
I personally sample all that the world of cartoons have to offer. Kinda hate family guy now though. Personally i'll try anything once, except for rap or country. Meanwhile, there is some god awful anime out there.

Nope, Toonami is actually still on tv in the phillies, but i would hardly call it Toonami, seems just a ghost of da past.
Squids gonna squid.
